Boy, this list really cut me to the quick! I am embarrassed to confess how many of these admitted horror classics I have never seen, or not seen in a dog's age (THE RAVEN, LOVE FROM A STRANGER, BLACK ROOM, et al). More titles to see before I go-go... ! But yes indeed, Fredric March's JEKYLL & HYDE is the hands-down winner in the J&H sweepstakes. I think I have yet to see a Tod Slaughter film.

Great list - thank you for including the CHILLING performance by Rathbone in LOVE FROM A STRANGER. We bought it based on your recommendations, and it may be one of his greatest performances. Anyone only familiar with Rathbone as Holmes is in for a major shock. Also noteworthy in the film: Ann Harding as the heroine who is phenomenal in the twist ending, and a very young Joan (Miss Marple) Hickson as the maid. Thanks for a great site, and for thinking up SC in the first place!
